Story

Dasavatharam Govind (Kamal Hassan) is a scientist in USA. He works with the team that develops mass destructing biological weapon. He realizes that a colleague of him is selling such a bio-weapon to a terrorist from another country. In the process, he hides the weapon, but it gets shipped to India. A hit-man called Fletcher (Kamal Hassan) is after Govind. The weapon is clandestinely kept inside the idol of Lord Perumal. Govind pairs up with a girl (Asin) and runs away from Fletcher. Another cop chief (Kamal Hassan) is also after Govind. The rest of the story is all about how Govind gets back the missing bio-weapon.

Artists Performance

DasavatharamKamal Hassan: Kamal Hassan has done 10 different characters in this film as hero (scientist), villain (hit man - in the lines of Terminator), chief cop, Prez Bush, 12th century Vaishnava priest, a Dalit leader, a Punjabi singer, an old woman, a Japanese martial arts trainer and a tall Muslim. The versatile actor has shown striking variation in all the get-ups. You would not recognize Kamal in the get-ups of villain, Prez Bush, Dalit leader, old woman and Japanese martial arts leader. His histrionics as Vaishnava priest are terrific. The hero and villain characters have the maximum screen time. The characterization of chief cop is the most entertaining followed by the old woman character among the ten characters he donned.

DasavatharamOthers: Who will be left in the star cast of the film if Kamal does 10 characters, except for the female leads? Asin is good as Brahmin devotee who accompanies the hero for the sake of Perumal's idol. Mallika Sherawat is alright as the Telugu translator to the villain. Jayaprada did the role of Punjabi singer's wife and has no significant role to play. Napoleon is terrific in the role as Shiva’s devotee. Director P Vasu also did a guest role in the film.

Technical Departments:

DasavatharamStory - screenplay - direction: The basic story line of the film is about how a scientist saved the lives of millions of people by securing the bio-weapon as a hit-man summoned by terrorists chases him. The hit man and the scientist roles are played by Kamal himself and in the process hero meets seven more characters played by the actor. Since all these characters are played by Kamal, these characters are given more footage and much importance than usual. Hence, the story of the film takes the back seat to highlight Kamal’s Dasavatarams. Direction is not satisfactory. Screenplay is little confusing. The 12th century episode is well-shot. The connection between the 12th century episode intro and the climax is not clearly explained. Another flaw in the film is that the hero would be tossing around the idol of God throughout the film on the pretext of saving the world. The story writer incorporated majority of Indian religions (Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikh) in the film.

DasavatharamOther departments: Music by Himesh Reshmiyya is just average. The popular song – loka nayakuda – comes only during the end credits of the film. Mukunda Mukunda song is good. Background music by Devi Sri Prasad is adequate. Cinematography is good. Make-up department deserves a special mention for its extraordinary work. Editing is alright. Dialogues are just OK. Graphic work and special effects in certain scenes should have been better. The production values are extraordinary.

DasavatharamAnalysis: The movie starts with an interesting episode set in the 12th century backdrop. Then the movie's tempo goes down till the character of cop enters. From then, the movie is interesting till the interval. The second half is not good. The climax is little interesting. The plus point of the film is Kamal Hassan. The minus point of the film is about diluting the story to give importance to all ten characters in the film. People go to a movie to watch Kamal Hassan. Half of the characters donned by him do not look like Kamal Hassan at all. Then why does he have to don those characters? On a whole, Dasavatharam disappoints a bit!

Story, Screenplay, Direction: Karunakaran
Release Date: 25th July 2008

It's like 'Toliprema' retold in less effective way to say in single line. The love track between a decent heroine and a go-easy guy is dealt in Karunakaran's style here.

Story

A light hearted romance, the film begins with the story of a boy Balaji and a girl Dhanalakshmi (Sneha) who grow up as kids and Balaji is ready to do anything and everything to see a smile on Dhana's face. Soon, the kids grow but then Balaji leaves as his father gets transferred. However, Dhana is unable to forget him and despite the passing of 15 years she still longs for him since she gets letters from Balaji and though Dhana's aunt (Kavitha) who is eyeing her property does not like it, her feelings for him is strong which makes her run away from home and reach the city. In comes Aravind (Yasho Sagar) a cheerful, fun loving happy go lucky who is not much into responsibilities and a carefree kind of guy. He meets Dhana accidentally and falls in love with her at first sight and despite her not liking his company, he keeps chasing her all the time. But Dhana reveals that she loves Balaji. What happens then has to be watched on screen.

Performance

Yasho Sagar by no means was able to deliver a quality performance. He lacked strength in expressions and went blank in emotional scenes; to add to the woes was his frequent guffaw which was more of an annoyance than anything. It will take some real good grilling for him if he is looking at becoming a hero.

Sneha Ullal was a true vision of natural beauty and she did resemble Aishwarya Rai in few frames, though her acting needed a bit of touch-up here and there, she has enough attraction and charm in her to take things forward and two or more films down the line she will strike it big.

The comedy scenes involving Venumadhav imitating Rajini, Sunil, Brahmanandam managed to extract few laughs and it was the sequences with Suman Shetty and gang that scored better in the comedy department. The senior cast of Chandramohan, Sudha, Kavitha, L B Sriram carried out their roles with required standard. Sudha appeared to have suffering from some dental problem. She delivered some dialogues with a hissing sound in first half.

Sunil is one bundle of talent who could have been used in a much effective way. Dharmavarapu came and went with extracting three smiles in total. The director has come out with a thin plot and it appears that few bits have been inspired from movies like 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam''Namastey London' where the hero is all out to make his loved one happy at the expense of his sadness. However, the touches of 'Tholi Prema' were seen strongly. The presentation was nice but the narration lost out on points, editing was crisp, music was top notch, camera was superb but the script was weak and lacked depth on the lead pair.

Analysis

The structure of the narration resembles 'Toli Prema'-a careless hero with an irresponsible friends-gang falls in love with a decent girl who holds a goal. While the heroine in Toliprema holds the goal to go Harvard School for research, here in this film the goal of heroine is to meet her childhood boy friend. In the process heroine knows the sensitive feelings in the heart of hero and unites with him in the climax. Yes, that's purely the story of Toliprema. The difference is that the director tried to narrate it in different way, choosing a lighter tone. On a whole it can be stated that either the emotional depth or the complete lighter swing aren't seen on screen. And above all, Karunakaran made a mistake by bringing Yasho Sagar on to floors without giving him proper training in acting. The film runs on the shoulders of hero. And here hero proved amateur and failed in delivering many expressions. He is not an actor yet. He has to get trained a lot.

First half and second half run in similar tone with a mixture of lighter moments and serious heart-factors.

The plus point in the film is heroine. She has bright future on Tollywood screen if she improves her acting skills and chooses right subjects and appropriate roles. She is looking as a mixture of Aishwarya Rai and Renu Desai. The film-wise it's good. And presentation is fair. But the choice of main lead spoiled the show.

Hey guys.. This classic movie “Happy days” is all for you. This movie is directed superbly by Sekhar kammula and well acted all new guys and girls. All telugu must have already seen it and any other guys can download it and watch it as there are subtitles.

Mastistuff Review : I think everyone has watched the movie. It has grabbed all the awards for the year 2007. Shekar kamala has done great job. Sekhar Kammula who did female oriented films like Anand and Godavari came up with a film of different genre this time. The genre might be changed, but his honesty and filmmaking abilities are in tact.

Review
Story

Chandu (Sandesh), Rajesh (Nikhil), Shankar (Vamsi Krishna), Tyson (Raahul), Madhu (Tamanna), Appu (Gayatri Rao) and Sangeeta (Monali Chowdary) are a bunch of freshers in a college. They all together make a fine gang. Chandu - Madhu, Rajesh - Appu Shankar - Sangeeta soon build up their relation and become pairs. Tyson - a nerd with a heart of gold - ends up falling in love with a senior Sravanthi (Sonia). The rest of the story is how they spend their four years of their education in the campus and express love for their respective dear ones.

Artists Performance

Main male leads: This film boasts of perfect casting. You see characters, not the actors. All the new comers performed in an extremely natural way. And by the time movie ends, we end up understanding the characteristics and traits of each and every one. As per the footage and likeability of the character is concerned Varun Sandesh takes the top ranking. He is extremely lovable and his striking resemblance to hero Siddhardh is an added advantage. He understood the character very well. The next is Raahul. Lots of credit should be given to Sekhar Kammula for penning such a beautiful character and Raahul suited it to the tee. Nikhil is pretty good as the tapori. He got considerable importance towards the latter half of the second half. Vamsi Krishna is a pretty good actor, but did not get enough scope to perform. The two guys who had donned the role of seniors are good.

Main female leads: Tamanna is the main heroine of the film. She is very good and she oozed natural expressions in all her scenes. Gayatri Rao is also very natural and likable. However, it is Sonia who steals the show with her extremely natural and at times subtle expressions. Monali Chowdary is good as the bad girl. Kamalinee Mukherjee did the role of an extremely glamorous lecturer and she dubbed her own voice. She is cool.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: There is not much of a story in this film. It is about the love of four couples spread over four years. What makes the big difference to this simple and plain story is director's ability to create interest throughout the film with neat screenplay. He brought out tremendous emotion in the scenes of separation and reunion between the pairs.

The following scenes standout:

1. The separation scene of Tyson and Sravanthi is very fascinating.
2. Rajesh’s reaction after he beats up his friend Shankar.
3. The way he ended the love thread between Tyson and Sravanthi. If Sravanthi accepted Tyson's love, then it would appear that the director is giving messages that it is ok to love your senior girls in the college.

The following dialogues are so meaningful and true:

1. Love and fear can never coexist.
2. A boy's character is judged by the kind of girls he roams with.
3. The college life may fail you to achieve great academic rewards, but it will definitely give you the ability to achieve any thing.
4. College Days are Happy Days. The days that follow college days are purposeful days.

However the following aspects of the film are unwarranted:

1. Rajesh's hair style in the beginning appears artificial. And he keeps using Telangana dialect though he is from Proddutur (Rayalaseema).
2. Tyson doing some scientific tricks. The extent of the tricks should have been limited.
3. The character of Panduranga Rao was introduced well. But there is no ending to that character.

I could not resist from bringing the comparison of the ego clash between lead pair in this film to that of Kushi film. In that film Bhumika Chawla had a clash with Pawan because he peeked at her midriff. In this film the ego clash comes out because the guy wants to kiss the girl.

Other departments: Music of the film is excellent and the two songs in the first half (music + visuals) take you to the different level. Micky J Meyer is just superb. Other department that dominates the movie is great cinematography. Visuals are a feast to the eyes. Vijay C Kumar who followed single color pattern for Anand and Godavari came up with different color sceheme for this film so that the visuals match the vibrancy of college atmosphere. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh deserves special mention. He made sure the scenes flow in the film is smooth.

Analysis: First half of the film is neat though some of us might feel that Sekhar Kammula kind of emotional scenes are not there. But in the second half of the film, he added good emotional episodes and made sure that you get connected with the film. The plus points of the film are direction, fresh cast, music, cinematography and editing. On the flip side, the pace of the film slackens at times. Sekhar Kammula who did female oriented films like Anand and Godavari came up with a film of different genre this time. The genre might be changed, but his honesty and filmmaking abilities are in tact. If he sticks to his sensibilities, Sekhar Kammula can never make a bad film. Go and watch 'Happy Days'

Movie Review By: Telugu-Film-Reviews.Blogsopt.com

Nandamuri Kalyanram launched a banner called NTR Arts as his career failed to click despite two films to his credit. He himself played the hero on that banner introducing Surender as director for 'Athanokkade'. The film turned out to be blockbuster. Again Kalyanram's films that came after that hit, failed to reach the audiences expectations. To regain his sagging image, Kalyanram planned another film on his banner again and once again he was able to hit the bull's eye with another debutant director Harshavardhan. For the first time, Kalyanram played dual roles in the film and the director too maintained good suspense and the movement of the film was also gripping.

Story:

Hari (Kalyanram) and Ram (Kalyanram) are brothers with different mindsets. Hari is intelligent and Ram always feels that no one should be greater than him. As their father (Chandramohan) was all praise for Hari, Ram tries to attack his father and brother. On noticing this, Ram's mother (Sita) takes him away, while Hari remains with his father. As Hari's father dies in his childhood, his paternal uncle and aunt (chinnanna, pinni) (Chalapati Rao and Sudha) bring him up and he becomes an IPS officer, while Ram's mother somehow bring him up by working as a cook. On the other side, there is a minister (Kota Srinivasa Rao), whose brother (Rajiv Kanakala) was a
scientist. Both are crooked and the scientist invents a dangerous virus which spreads very fast and also its antidote. They plan to spread the virus first and then release the antidote later and earn money. A TV channel camerawoman (Sindhu Tulani) reveals this secret. As a result, she gets killed by the henchmen of the minister in association with her fellow journalist. Later, the journalist and the scientist get killed under mysterious circumstances. Suspecting some foul play, the CBI deputes Anjali (Priyamani) for investigation and she traps Hari and arrests him after he confesses the crime. Who is the real murderer among the two – Hari or Ram? What is the relationship between Ram and the camerawoman? What made Hari to confess the crime? Who took revenge against the killing of the camerawoman? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

PERFORMANCE:

Kalyanram, who faced successive failures, worked with a commitment to make the film a hit. Moreover, the film is being made on his own banner. He worked hard and showed good variation between both the characters. At the same time, he showed perfect ease in dances and they were choreographed in a stylish manner. Priyamani was proved herself once again as a good performer, besides filling the glamour slot. Her costumes in dance sequences were little revealing but not shoddy. Comedy by Brahmanandam and Raghubabu were able to tickle the funny bones to some extent, but the role played by Venumadhav appeared waste. Ali is okay in some scenes. Chalapati Rao, Chandramohan, Sudha, Sita, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Ashokkumar are adequate and did justice to their roles.

TECHNICAL:

When it comes to the choreography of action scenes, Selva and Ram-Lakshman gave the best of their abilities to attract the mass audiences. They were moulded in a stylish manner and the chase with vans and cars was shot well. The blast scenes were also shot in an expensive manner. As far as the canning of songs, they are worth watching, though Mickey J Meyer's tunes were fine with modern appeal. As far as the story and its movement, it has some similarities of an earlier film 'Manmadha', with one hero playing two roles after the death of one hero. Camera work by C Ramprasad is good while the editing by Gauthamraju is adequate. The production values of NTR Arts banner are good enough.

REMARKS:

With a clear indication that the film was aimed at masses, all the action scenes, songs and dances were targeted to attract the mass audiences. In order to give a boost to the image of the hero, the director tried his best to expose most of the film on the hero. The director was able to extract good acting talents not only from the hero, heroine and the villain, but also from all the artistes. The film has many commercial elements. As a whole, the film started with a hit talk from the morning show.

CREDITS: Music – Mickey J Meyer, Lyrics – Sitaramasastry, Camera – C Ramprasad, Editing – Gauthamraju, Art – Vivek, Action – Selva and Ram-Lakshman, Producer – Kalyanram, Story, screenplay and direction – Harshavardhan.

Review
Story

Balu (Jagapati Babu) is a barber in a remote village. He is a straight-forth man with honesty. He has an understanding wife (Meena) and three kids. Ashok Kumar (Rajnikanth) – the superstar of film industry – is his childhood friend. But Balu loses touch with Ashok after he becomes an actor. The unit of Ashok's latest film comes to the village of Balu for a cinema shoot. Balu's family members and village men ask Balu to take them to Ashok. But Balu is such a kind of guy who does not want to ask favors. The rest of the story is all about how the honest Balu and raging superstar meet.

Artists Performance

Rajnikant: Rajnikant mesmerizes you again with his 60-minute screen presence in this film. He is super stylish in the various costumes (Mask of the Zorro, Lawrence of Arabia etc) donned in two songs of the film. He also has a very sensible part in the film where he tries to explain the mindset of an actor and superstar. SP Balu who usually dubs for Kamal Hassan dubbed for Rajnikant in this film.

Jagapati Babu: Jagapati Babu came up with one of the finest performances of his career. This role demands a tremendous histrionics from the actor in Jagapati Babu and he does a wonderful job. His get-up is also good. But one wonders why he has light beard though he is doing the role of barber.

Others: Meena is apt as the wife of Jagapati Babu. Nayana Tara sizzles as film heroine paired with Rajnikant. Dharmavarapu entertains. Sunil's escapades in second half are good, especially his expressions while ogling at Nayana Tara. Ali is alright. Brahmanandam is wasted. The comedy of MS Narayana and Kondavalasa does not appeal.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: This film is a remake of a Malayalam blockbuster - Katha Parayumbol. The story of the film is old-fashioned and simple. The director tried to stick to the story than going for commercial gimmicks with Rajnikant for the sake of commerciality. The screenplay should have been better. Narration is a bit slower. The director handled the climax well by making it a heart-touching one.

Other departments: Music by GV Prakash Kumar is good. Cinematography by Aravind Krishna stands out. His work for 'chele chele' is very good. Dialogues written for Rajnikant deserve claps. Dialogues like 'tinna tindi vantlone vunte, vantiki manchidi kaadu. Sampadinchina dabbu intlone vunte intiki manchidi kaadu' and 'talli, tandri, guruvu, daivam antaru. Kaani talli, tandri, guruvu, snehitudu, daivam anaali'. The dialogues written for Rajnikant in a conversation with educationalist are very true and entertaining. Art work is also good. The special effects work done to this film is neat. Production values are nice.

Analysis: With the kind of publicity given to this film, people might think that Kathanayakudu film is a completely Rajnikant's film. But Kathanayakudu film belongs to a barber character played by Jagapati Babu. All the scenes involving Rajnikant have nice dialogues and good style. The scenes featuring Jagapati Babu are little arty. The comedy in first half does not gel well. The plus points of the film are Rajnikant, Jagapati Babu and a heart touching climax. On a flip side, a better screenplay and a faster narration would have helped the film tremendously. The success of the film depends on how the family crowds receive it.

Review
Story

Ranga (Bala Krishna) is a flirtatious bachelor. He gets addicted to a prostitute called Amrita (Tabu). His parents try to reform him, but fail. Lakshmi (Sneha) is one of greatest devotees of Lord Krishna (Bala Krishna). One night Lord Krishna appears in her dreams and asks her to marry Ranga. Lakshmi somehow manages to wed Ranga. But Ranga keeps on going to Amrita and neglects his parents’ advice. The rest of the story is all about how Lord Krishna makes Ranga realize the importance of being loyal to wife and to respect the parents.

Artists Performance

Bala Krishna donned two roles of the God and the devotee. He is pretty good in both these roles. His expressions in Lord Krishna character are excellent. Mohan Babu impresses everybody with his modulated diction as the one who preaches the greatness of the parents. Sneha is nice in this performance oriented role. Tabu’s role has more of exposing and there is lot of cleavage show. She looks old though. Other heroines like Suhasini and Archana don’t have much to do. K Viswanath, Siva Parvati and Balayya are adequate. LB Sriram could not get out of his usual mannerisms while doing the role of Narada. Sunil is alright as one of the comedians. Brahmanandam is wasted in an insignificant role. Y Vijaya looks ghastly with a wig. Item girl Meghana Naidu danced in a song.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: This film is a remake of NTR’s classic Panduranga Mahatyam. The story is about the redemption of a flirt and of an irresponsible son. The writer of the film had lot of limitations because of the original. The characterization and exposing of Tabu character is gone beyond the limits though her character is supposed to be that of a prostitute. Direction by K Raghavendra Rao is adequate. But he could not get the emotions work in this film the way he has done for Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu (that is probably because all Telugus are fond of those historic characters). Screenplay of the film should have been better.

Other departments: The music scored by MM Keeravani is good. Cinematography by Jayaram is neat. Dialogues by JK Bharavi are nice. He used rhyme (prasa) to get a couple of good one-lines like pelli kala vachindi (kala refers to dream, but not glow) and ‘meeru aadu (aada) vaaru. Memu aadinchu vaaramu’. Editing is alright.

Analysis: First half of the film is alright though there is excess dosage of exposing by Tabu. Tempo in second half goes down a bit. But the movie is better in the last half an hour after Mohan Babu appears (the redemption process). The plus points are Bala Krishna and the music. On the flipside, the emotions would have been strongly established. We have to wait and see how this devotional film works at the box office.

Review
Story

Elderly Rajaji (Rajendra Prasad) does not have any dependents as both his wife and daughter die. His daughter takes her life because of the rejection from her boy friend. Rajaji is so much depressed with the entire episode that he too wants to die. He gathers like-minded people with suicide tendencies. He arranges a bus trip to Srisailam where they want to jump the bus from the highest cliff. Meanwhile this news is leaked to the cops. And the cops are in search of these people. The rest of the story is all about whether the cops foiled the suicide attempt or not.

Artists Performance

This film has limited characters. Rajendra Prasad did the pivotal role and he is pretty natural. His character in this film is little similar to that of Aa Naluguru character. Naresh is entertaining the role of a film producer. Raghubabu donned the role of bus driver and provided comedy. Brahmanandam is his usual self as the swamy. Ali is good. Krishna Bhagwan, Chinna and others are adequate.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: The story of the film seems to have been inspired by a Japanese film titled Ikinai (1998). Ikinai is about a group of people taking a bus journey to send the bus over the cliff. The story of this film is good and it deals the potential issue of suicides. The director could not establish the characters and the intentions of these characters to go for suicide properly. But he narrated the journey and the realization in them in a neat manner. He also injected humor to make sure that there is no heaviness in the proceedings. Screenplay of the film is adequate. The director inserted quite few scenes which shows the importance of humanity.

Other departments: There is only one song in the film which keeps on repeating as background music. It is good. Dialogues are witty at times like ‘late kaavadaniki late kaavoddu’ etc. Cinematography is average. Editing is neat. The locations in the entire film are limited with first half taking place mostly in a park and the second half in a bus.

Analysis: First half of the film is little too slow. But the director handled the second half in a commanding way. The plus points of the film are story and message orientation. On the flip side, the reasons for their suicide decision does not appear convincing. Directing and producing films like Mee Srebhilashi is a risky proposition. One should appreciate CC Reddy for coming forward to make a film on the burning issues of suicides. On a whole, Mee Sreyobhilashi is a purposeful film.

Review
Story

Shankar (Chiranjeevi), a local goon falls in love with the voice of Jahnavi (Karishma Kotak) who works as radio jocky in an FM station. He introduces himself as a history professor in order to impress Jahnavi. Meanwhile, he gets hallucination of seeing Gandhiji and talking to him. Shankar as a part of his wrong deeds also helps a land grabber called Lingam (Sayaji Shinde). Lingam tricks Shankar to grab the old-age home run by Jahnavi. Instead of attacking Lingam in his routine rough style, he applies the technique of Gandhigiri. The rest of the story is all about how he reforms Lingam and wins the heart of Jahnavi.

Artists Performance

Chiranjeevi: Chiranjeevi is excellent in this film. There are pretty good comedy scenes in first half which were performed by Chiranjeevi with impeccable timing and ease. Chiranjeevi has sacrificed on his image aspect while doing the second half of the film. His dance movements are pretty good, asusual.

Others: Karishma Kotak with a broad structure is just ok as the female lead. Srikanth is given liberal screen space in first half and he excels with renewed dialogue delivery and interesting expressions. Sayaji Shinde is alright as the land grabber. Marathi stage thespian Dileep Prabhavalkar played the role of Gandhiji to perfection. Rohit is adequate. Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja, Prabhu Deva, Devi Sri Prasad and Nagababu made special appearances in songs. Pawan Kalyan enters the film during climax and he has pretty powerful dialogue that refers to his relationship with Chiranjeevi in his real life.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: This film is a remake of Hindi film Lage Raho Munnabhai. And most of the film is adapted in Telugu as it is. The director added a couple of fights and an item song to please the masses. When it comes to Shankar Dada MBBS, director Jayant has nicely added entertaining elements (style walk of hero and Telugu proverbs in butler English). These things caught up like a wildfire with the masses as well as the classes who have already seen Munnabhai MBBS. But in Shankardada Zindabad, the director did not put any extra efforts to make it more entertaining than the original. And when Prabhudeva directs a film we expect extraordinary dances and his kind of creativity and entertainment. But he seems to have just stuck to the original Hindi film and took a couple of references from Shankar Dada MBBS. Direction of the film is adequate.

Other departments: When Prabhudeva and Chiranjeevi team up, we expect fireworks in dance department, but Prabhudeva could not create any sort of magic in his base department of choreography. Music is very good to listen on the audio player. On screen, Jadageka Veerudiki and melodious Chandamama song are pretty good with nice costumes and luster locations. Dialogues by Paruchuri brothers should have been better though there are couple of nice dialogues (piece vs peace etc). We expect better cinematography from a talented technicians like Chota K Naidu.

Analysis: First half of the film offers entertainment. Second half has heavy moments with emotional appeal. The plus points of the film are Chiranjeevi and Srikanth. On the flip side, second half should have been handled in a more compact manner and there should have been more Chiranjeevi kind of entertainment. Chiranjeevi is one hero who has all-round appeal and has terrific following in family circles. The second half of the film is aimed toward to the family crowds. The success of the film depends on how the family crowds embrace the second half.

Review
Story

Munna (Prabhas) is an orphan who grows up in an orphanage and studies with the help of scholarships. Kakha (Prakash Raj) is the mafia don in the city. Munna's fight with Kakha's son in the college leads to confrontation between Munna and Kakha. Munna becomes 'Mr. dependable' to the locals and starts building his empire to help people whereas Kakha tries to eliminate him. The rest of the story is all about how Munna defeats Kakha.

Artists Performance

Prabhas: Prabhas is pretty good in the role of Munna. He might not look so appealing in the stills and posters, but is good on the screen with his new hair-do. He is using similar kind of dialogue delivery in almost all situations. He should try to modulate his voice as per the scene and emotions. His height and body structure brings believability to the fights he has done.

Ileana: There is a dialogue in the film in which a side character refers to Ileana's figure as 'front super. Back bumper'. That suits her pretty well. She is very good in this film. But unfortunately her role is limited to songs in the second half. She shares good on-screen chemistry with Prabhas.

Others: Kota is excellent as noble politician. Prakash Raj is very good as the main villain. Rahul Dev is competent in a vital role. Venu (Jai fame) has a very important role in this film and his comedy is good. Sridhar, Tanikella Bharani and Posani Krishna Murali are adequate. Heroine Kalyani did an insignificant role in this film. Shriya sizzled in an item song. Venu Madhav is okay.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: The story of this film has slight resemblance to the Hindi film Trishool. The story and the basic plot have lot of commercial potentiality. But the execution of the film could not translate that potentiality onto the screen. A better screenplay should have helped the film. Debutant director Vamsi Paidipally's work is good in parts. He executed a few vital scenes very well. But he could not maintain compactness in his narration. He gave unnecessary build-ups of hero oriented scenes again and again. For example, there is no need to use freeze camera technique on the kid, when he puts knife on a man. The following scene impressed me -

In the climax fight Prakash Raj gets hold of a gun and points it at Prabhas. And obviously that gun had no bullets. Hence we all come to know about it in due time. But the director inserted an episode in between in which he remembers a gun seller telling technical details about the gun followed by hero recollecting the number of shots and then realizing that the bullets are over. By inserting this scene, the director elevated the heroism through hero's intelligence.

The scene how hero finds the connection between two vital people in the film is also executed well.

Other departments: The music by Harris Jayaraj definitely falls short of our expectations. The songs should have been better. The picturization makes it up for that through Manasa and Vastava Vastava songs. Cinematography by Ram Prasad is very good. It is beautifully supported by the Digital Intermediate and visual effects done by Prime Focus. There are innumerable fights in this film. The most impressive one is the rain fight. Peter Hynes exploited the body language of Prabhas to the full extent in that fight. Dialogues in the film are well written. Editing is alright. Production values by Dil Raju are grand.

Analysis: The movie starts off on a dull note and meanders aimlessly till the dark secret is revealed before interval. The flashback episode is unappealing. There are a couple of surprises in the second half. The plus points of the film are Prabhas, stylish taking of the director and lavish budget. On the flip side, screenplay and narration should have been better. There is no holistic perspective in the film. Let us wait and see if Dil Raju's 'Midas Touch' works for this film or not!

Cast: Nitin, Kajal, Nagababu, Jayasudha, Raghuvaran, Narsing Yadav, Jayalalitha, Raviprakash, Chalapati Rao, Narra, Sivaprasad, Amit, Venumadhav, Mumait Khan and Others.
Action: Ram-Laxman.
Art: Babjee.
Cinematography: Jawahar Reddy.
Editing: Baswa Paidireddy.
Music: Chakri.
Story, Screenplay & Direction: AS Ravikumar Chowdary.
Presenter: Rekha Combines.
Producer(s): C. Kalyan-S. Vijayanand.
Banner: Teja Cinema.
Release Date: 20th March, 2008.

Aatadista has an inconsistent script, mediocre direction and absolutely no novelty. Nitin concentrates on his dancing skills and nothing else. Kajal has little to do and she has definitely done better work, both in terms of her character and the movie itself. The main negative character played by Sivaprasad has nothing new to offer apart from a marchpast walk. The music is nothing to write home about and the movie itself is very disappointing.

Plot Jagan alias Chinna is industrialist Lion Rajendra's jobless son. He falls in love with Sunanda. Meanwhile he suggests that his father and his rival Raghunath get into a partnership to double up their efficiency. Without his knowledge his marriage is fixed to Raghunath's daughter, who obviously turns out to be Sunanda, but the families are not on great terms even after they fix the match. Raghunath is dealing in tobacco businesses that is actually owned by Bonala Shankar, a brusque and notorious MLA. Rajendra doesn't want to deal in that area, but Bonala threatens the board of directors too. Now Jagan has to deal with this corrupt politico and plays a game with him that shakes him from his very roots-spreads a rumor that he hit Shankar.

Story, Screenplay and Direction The story is pretty erratic. First Jagan alias Chinna is after Sunanda, pursuing her in a roughish manner. Suddenly he starts pretending to be a nice guy, bashing up his friend who eve-teases her hostel girls just to impress her. Then suddenly the track is neglected only to re-appear before the break to give that 'interval punch'. The main villain is Sivaprasad as Bonala Shankar, a ruthless tobacco producer cum MLA who bashes up public and media who protest against his companies and his party president for questioning him. Then in the second half, when Nitin 'plays' with him, it is not that convincing.

The interval punch is amusing, even if for a short while. The track with Shankar's son and Sunanda's friend is a yawn. The inconsistency of the script is consistent. A brief period in the second half, when the actual 'Aata' is on between Chinna and Shankar is watchable, but not novel.

The ending is very abrupt. The editing and cinematography are average. Choreography seems repetitive. The fun part in the movie, or indeed any watchable part, lasts roughly about 20 minutes if that.

Performances Nitin's focus on dance puts him at a disadvantage. He needs to work on his dialogue delivery (Slow Down!!!) and voice modulation. Kajal has little to do, and makes faces throughout-she's done better work than this. Sivaprasad as Shankar fits the part well, has a good presence and a well-written character to portray. Nagababu is okay as is Jayasudha who plays his wife. Raghuvaran, people shall miss his uniqueness forever but thankfully it's captured on many a canvas.

Song and Dance Middling and repetitive to the core. Mumait's Item number is alright though.

Last Word Same old, same old. Yawn!

Plot Jagan alias Chinna is industrialist Lion Rajendra’s jobless son. He falls in love with Sunanda. Meanwhile he suggests that his father and his rival Raghunath get into a partnership to double up their efficiency. Without his knowledge his marriage is fixed to Raghunath’s daughter, who obviously turns out to be Sunanda, but the families are not on great terms even after they fix the match. Review
Story

Anasuya is an orphan and a post graduate in criminal psychology. She joins a TV channel as a reporter. She is entrusted with a job to crack the secrets behind mysterious serial killings followed by a collecting of body organs. The killer always leaves a rose at the crime scene as the proof of his identity. Meanwhile, a cop (Abbas) is also bestowed with the responsibility to solve the mystery. The rest of the story is all about how Anasuya chases the serial killer and unravels the mystery behind his killings.

Artists Performance

Bhumika Chawla is perfect in the role of Anasuya. A character like Anasuya needs an able actress like Bhumika Chawla who has got command over histrionics. She did a good job with subtle and terse expression. Abbas is alright for the role in male lead. Ravi Babu looks deadly and he shaved off his eyebrows to look ghastly. Ankita did a miniscule role and Nikhita did a vital role. Harsha and Sameer did well among the others.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is good. But what makes this film special is the screenplay. Each and every character is nicely connected with the main storyline. The director succeeded in maintaining the suspense of the film till interval. But the film goes on a predictable mode in the second half. Direction of the film is adequate.

Other departments: Music (especially the background score) by Sekhar Chandra is good. Cinematography by Sudhakar Reddy is an asset. The director did not use much lights for the night shots as it is a thriller. Nivas dialogues are adequate. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is fair.

Analysis: First half of the film is interesting. Second half is okay. The climax of the film is too lengthy. The plus points of the film are casting (Bhumika & Allari Ravi) and technical aspects. On the flipside, the suspense element is less in the second half and the duration of climax fight is more. On a whole, Anasuya is a different film in thriller genre. It would be liked by the people who love watching these kind of films.

SS Rajamouli’s Magnum Opus Yamadonga censored today(9th August) and awarded U/A Certificate with 2-3 minor cuts. This much awaited third film in the successful NTR-Rajamouli’s combo is going to release on August 15th worldwide with more than 350 prints.

The movie got a very positive report from the Board members.
According to the info..The movie is an out and out entertainer with rocking performances by the lead actors.Let’s wait & see on August 15th !

The ’surprise’ in the 7th reel of ‘Yamadonga’
Courtesy : IndiaGlitz

The socio-fantasy film ‘Yamadonga’ directed by SS Rajamouli, presented by Smt Rama Rajamouli, and produced by Cherry and Urmila Gunnam on the banner of Viswamitra Creations with NTR, Priyamani and Mamata Mohandas in the lead is all set for release on August 15.

Padma Shri, Dr Mohanbabu, is playing Yamadharma Raju and Khushboo is playing his wife, while Preeti Jhangiani, Navneet Kaur, Archana and Rambha are playing key roles in the movie.

MM Keeravani scored music for the movie.

There was a big talk about the seventh reel of the film. Rumours agog that the entire key of the film lied in the seventh reel in which the late NTR is appearing on the screen and there is another key scene which would be like life for the movie.

The entire film is one part and the seventh reel in itself is one part of the highlight. One has to wait and watch till August 15 to break this suspense.

There are lots of expectations on the movie both in the industry and also among the audiences in general and NTR fans in particular.

NTR-Meher Ramesh’s movie shooting in USA
After the completion of Yamadonga, NTR would not waste much time before going onto his next project. In the recent audio function of ‘Hello.. Premistara’ he shocked one and all by shedding more weight - looking at his slimmest best. Also, he chopped his long locks - making him look his real age. His next film is going to be directed by Mehar Ramesh and produced by Ashwini Dutt. Ramesh directed Kannada remakes of telugu hits like Okkadu, Andhrawala and worked with Puri Jagannadh in the past. He also co-wrote the screenplay for Desamuduru recently. The movie is going to floors from the 23rd of this month in the United States. The first schedule would be for 35 days. Hansika Motwani (of Desamuduru, Aap Ka Suroor fame) is the one of the main leads. The other heroine is yet to be finalized.

Review
Story

Gautami (Neha Julka) is a real estate agent in Mumbai. Kiran (Gopichand) owns a property in Mumbai and sells it through Gautami. He needs money for an urgent purpose and asks Gautami to help him out in getting the money soon instead of the agreed time of six months. Sona Bhai (Mahesh Manjrekar) is an influential mafia don in Mumbai who needs an urgent heart transplantation. His blood group (Bombay blood group) is rare as very few people in India belong to the same blood group. As Sona Bhai runs out of options, his men desperately search for a healthy man from whom the can get heart for their boss. Apparantly Kiran also belongs to the same blood group. And the rest of the story is all about the tussle between Kiran and Sona Bhai.

Artists Performance

Gopichand: Kiran role in this film adds a new addition to Gopichand‘s arsenal. He changed his dialogue delivery and body language to suit the role of a city-based guy, brought up in sophisticated environment. He looks extremely flexible and comfortable in lethal action sequences.

Others: Neha Julka is adequate as female lead. She looks more beautiful without a bindi (bottu). Mahesh Manjrekar is good as mafia man suffering from health problems. Nassar played a vital role of villain’s close associate. Rahul Dev is extremely good in a different character. Giri Babu plays heroine’s father. The comedy bit by Brahmanandam in second half deserves special mention.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is different. Though the storyline is very thin, director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti made sure that there is enough logic behind every move hero makes. He also created the screenplay in such a way that hero has a strong reason behind staying in Mumbai though hounded by the villain’s gang. At the same time, goons can’t be ruthless on hero as they want him alive and healthy . That gives hero the power of invincibility. Chandra Sekhar canned action sequences extremely well, but the romance thread between the lead pair is under developed. One unappealing thing about the narration of the film is that the subject is too serious and the director did not try to mix some humor in narration of the film the way he did for his earlier two films.

Other departments: Cinematography by Jaya Krishna Gummadi is neat. We definitely expect better music from Keeravani for this film. The songs shot in Dubai by Krishna Vamsi offer some relief. Dialogues by Koratala Siva are good. There are some intelligent dialogues in second half like ‘Nee Gunde Dhairyam Chavali. Kaani Gunde bagundali’. Artwork by Ravindar is realistic (especially heroine’s house set by the bay). Fights composed by Allen Amin, Ram Lakshman & Vijay are first rate. Production values by Clap Entertainment are good.

Analysis: First half of the film is neat and it lays very good foundation for the battle between the hero and the villain. Second half is filled with series of action sequences which makes it redundant. The way Gopichand takes 4 crores from villain is good (it’s more of psychological than physical). The climax of the film appears little abrupt. The plus points of the film are taking of Chandra Sekhar Yeleti and action sequences. The main draw back of the film is lack of relieving entertainment. Chandra Sekhar made sure in his earlier films (Aithe and AOR) that however serious the subject is, the narration is in lighter vein with nice humor. That humor is missing in this film. Violence is excessive. The fate of the film depends on how family crowds take it.

Story

Ganesh (Venkatesh), an unemployed bachelor for the past 10 years, suddenly lands up in a software company inspired by Keerthi (Trisha). He slowly falls in love with her and proposes her. But she is already engaged to her bava and her marriage is due in a month. A sudden tragedy takes place in Ganesh life, which puts him into an intriguing situation. The rest of the story is all about how he solves it and emerges victorious.

Artists Performance

Venkatesh: AMAV is an example for what an actor like Venkatesh can contribute to a script. This is probably the best performance Venkatesh has given so far. His comedy timing is ultimate. Doing such kind of comedy is extremely difficult. And Venkatesh does it with aplomb and makes sure that we all accept it and enjoy it immensely. He lowered his image a lot to make sure that it helps elevating the character. He is perfect in emotional scenes.

Others: Trisha has got a pivotal role in this film where she is needed to act a lot and she is completely at home playing the heroine role. She is beautiful and enacted her role very well. Colors Swathi steals the show in the second half as the girl who has gone fida over Venkatesh. Kota is excellent as the father of hero and his performance in this film is one his best in recent times. Veteran director and actor K Viswanath did an important role very well. Sriram does a vital role and he is good. Sunil’s comedy at telephone is nice. Jeeva is entertaining in his tiny role. Meghana Naidu and Mumaith Khan sizzled in a couple of songs.

Technical Departments:

Story: The basic story of the film has uncanny resemblance to the film DDLJ. The characterizations and relationships are also similar for Venkatesh (Sharukh Khan), Kota (Aupam Kher), Trisha (Kajol), K Viswanath (Amrish Puri) and Colors Swati (Mandira Bedi). The set-up for the second half seem to be similar to that of Kalisundam Raa. The ambiance in K Viswanath’s house is bit like that of Murari film. The sacrificing attitude of hero has similarities towards Santosham film. Though the story seems to have the traces of other films, the director made sure that there are some honest and original moments.

Screenplay - direction: Director Selva Raghavan made sure that he brings his trademark ‘realistic touch’ to the story. He is an expert at bringing great emotions with death scenes. He inserted good comedy in the film though certain part of it is weird. He handled emotions in a convincing way. Though he handled the film well, he could not end the film in a convincing manner. The relationship between father - son is enchanting. Narration is little slow and screenplay is adequate. Nonetheless, Selva Raghavan succeeds in touching the right chord by directing a big hero for the first time. He concentrated on entertainment in the first half and mixed strong emotions in the second half to make sure that audience will have certain positive heaviness in their hearts when they leave the theater.

Other departments: Dialogues of the film are extremely good. The strong dialogues written for emotional scenes helped the film. Music by Yuan Shankar Raja might not sound good when you listen to the audio, but it goes well with the flow of the film. Allantha Dooraniki is the best song in the film and it haunts you. Yemayyindi ee vela is another beautiful song shot very well on the screen. The background music is also interesting. Cinematography is very good. Editing is crisp. There is only one fight and it should have been done better. Producers have spent lavishly to make sure that the entire film is visually rich.

Analysis: First half is very entertaining (and watch out for the crazy antics Venkatesh has done). Second half is filled with strong emotion and good comedy. Venkatesh’s ultimate comedy, Trisha, Selva Raghavan’s genuine moments and dialogues are the main positive aspects of this film. On the flip side, I feel that the clarity is missing in conceiving climax of the film. It is intriguing to see K Viswanath behaving weirdly at the end of the film. There are some dull moments in the first half. Venkatesh has chosen the right subject for this film and it will have good prospects at box office as it has both entertainment and emotions in a right mix. Go and watch it.

Review
Story

Sri Krishna (Siddhardh) grows up watching films playing in the theater in which his father works as a movie-projectionist in a village. Satya (Ileana) is harassed by Vicky (Munna) - son of a politician - who wants to marry her. Satya escapes from home and Sri Krishna falls in love with her the first time he meets her. As the goons and police chase Satya, Sri Krishna protects her and drops her in the house of the politician. He wins Munna’s confidence. The rest of the story is the one-sided game between Sri Krishna and Munna.

Artists Performance

Siddhardh: Siddhardh has always played the character of an NRI or a boy from upper class in all Telugu films (Boys, Yuva, NVNV, Chukkallo Chandrudu and Bommarillu). For the first time, he has donned a character from lower middle class family. His role is that of a movie buff who loves Telugu films and old classics. Hence it is extremely important to have an actor that pronounces the dialogues the same way heroes does in old films. Siddhardh tried his best, but could not get the best dialogue delivery to suit the requirements. He altered his hair style and performed effortlessly in all the scenes.

Ileana: Ileana is gorgeous as female lead in this film. She is beautifully showcased in the songs. She is awesome in 4th and 5th song of the film. This is probably the 3rd film after Devadas and Pokiri where she is a treat to the eyes. She also gave some unique expressions in the boat episode. It has become a fad to keep a dialogue reserved for her behind in the recent films of Ileana.

Others: New actor Vicky is alright as Munna. In the comedy department, Jaya Prakash Reddy is pretty good with his dialect. Sunil and Brahmanandam have done characters that are similar to what they have been doing in previous films. They generated good amount of comedy. Ravi Babu character is good. Yesteryear's vamp Anuradha played Jaya Prakash's wife. Singer Smita performed in a song. Sayaji Shinde did the role of a cop. Producer MS Raju gave guest appearance in a song.

Technical Departments:

Story: The story and scenes of the film draws huge inspiration from several films. The basic plot is very similar to that of Gudumba Shankar. The first half is all about the couple on run. The second half is all about how hero makes fun of the villain who is all set to marry heroine. The other inspirations include Cinema Paradiso (opening sequence), Project A (first fight), Dil Hain Ki Maanta Nahin (hero - heroine meeting for the first time) and Mr. Bean (Sunil running nude in a hotel).

Screenplay - direction: Since there is hardly any story in the film, it is pretty difficult to write screenplay. Screenplay of the film is ok except for the climax. The director tried to create a sensible link to the incidents happened with the climax, but it hardly works. The director banked more on comedy and songs to narrate the story. He also concentrated less on establishing the love between the lead pair. The emotions are not strongly established.

Other departments: The cinematography takes the top slot in technical departments. Chota K Naidu made sure that he exploited good locations in the first half. Music by Devi Sri Prasad is alright. The picturization of songs is good. Dialogues by Paruchuri have sparks at times. Artwork by Ashok is very good. Production values by Sumanth Art banner are grand.

Analysis: MS Raju is always known for putting a strong emotional content in all his films irrespective of their box office performance. For the first time, he attempted making a film that does not have any emotional depth. He tried to do a breezy film this time. The plus points are entertainment and songs. The negative points are lack of emotions and unimpressive climax. We have to wait and see how common audience receive this film.

Review
Story

Sivaji (Rajnikant) is an NRI millionaire with an ambition of starting a hospital-cum-medical college for providing free education and medical help to the poor people in India. His ambition is foiled by a local kingpin (Suman). Sivaji gets questioned by the authorities and dragged onto the street because of the ruthless political system. That is when he realizes that a state like AP has around 46,000 crores as black money. He collects data and robs the black money from rich people and sends the money to USA through hawala route to get it distributed into small denominations by his NRI friends. The same amount is routed back to India in the form of donations to the charity foundation run by Sivaji. There by he virtually runs an alternate government by using the black money, helps the poor and develops infrastructure. However, the CBI is hell bent on getting evidence to arrest him for his economic violations. The rest of the story is all about how he evades the cops, eliminates the kingpin and continues serving the society.

Artists Performance

Rajnikanth: Rajnikant is a treat to your eyes. He looks extremely charming even in some of the weirdest get-ups. His walking style, mannerisms, get-ups and expressions are fantastic. What is more surprising is his body language and dances. The way he imitated the dancing styles of ANR, NTR and Chiranjeevi are excellent.

Others: Shriya is pretty good as the female lead. Nayana Tara sizzled in an item song. Suman is competent as the villain. Vivek is neat as hero's associate. Raghuvaran did a small yet important role. Stunt master Kamal Kannan appeared as himself. Manivannan and others are adequate.

Technical Departments:

Story: Story of the film is a typical Robin Hood kind of one. Rob black money from filthily rich people and distribute it to the poor and needy. The fascinating aspect about this story is orientation of black money. The suggestions given when title cards were rolling were great ideas. If Government abolishes the use 500 and 1000 notes and all the black money would come out. He also suggested the compulsory use of money card (similar to pan card with electronic features) where one has to produce it while purchasing costly items.

Screenplay - direction: Shankar is always known for mixing entertainment with purposeful message. He also tried the same thing with this film. But he had to add some other aspect called heroism to his recipe. By concentrating more on the love thread between hero and heroine in the first half, he missed his commercial formula. The mechanism in which he makes hero convert black money into white is good. The 'office' treatment is also good. If you observe all Shankar's films, there is always a strong motive for hero get the ultimate urge to help society (hero’s brother death in Gentleman, Hero's daughter death in Bharateeyudu, hero's sister death in Aparichitudu etc). But here we find no reason that prompted hero to develop the strong urge to help society. The following two points are unconvincing, more so because these two points are turning points to the movie -

1. Sivaji accepting that he bribed the officials to get permissions.
2. The CBI arresting Sivaji even without knowing what is there in the laptop (as the data in laptop is locked by a voice-recognition security system)

Other departments: The dialogues by Sri Rama Krishna are very good. Cinematography by KV Anand is an asset. Music by AR Rehman is adequate. On the picturization part, the second songs and the last song are extremely good. The main highlight of the film is Rajnikant dancing to Premabhishekam (ANR), Aaku Chatu (NTR) and Abba Nee Tiyyani (Chiranjeevi) with perfect body language. The fights of the film are adequate. The fight in music shop did not go well. Art work by Thota Tharani is good. The production values by AVM are lavish.

Analysis: First half of the film is little slow. There is momentum in the second half. The entire modus operandi of converting black money into white money is pretty intelligent. The plus points are Rajnikant and the main story concept of black money. On the flipside, director could not blend the story point uniformly into the story line. The screenplay should have been better. The much needed emotional impact is missing. The runtime of the film is pretty long (more than 3 hours). The name of Shankar itself is enough to get great openings and when a superstar like Rajnikant acting in Shankar's film, the expectations are unprecedented. You might want to watch it without any expectations.

Tailpiece: Before starting of the film, there is a little animation that shows Rajnikant as 'Sulthan' by Adlabs.

Review
Story

Raghavan (Kamal Hassan) is an efficient and intelligent ACP. Some mysterious men kill Raghavan's colleague Anand Raj's (Prakash Raj) daughter. Serial killings persist and investigations reveal that there is a serial killer behind these murders. Raghavan is forced to leave for New York on this official work. The rest of the story is all about how he solves the mystery behind the killings and get hold of killers.

Artists Performance

Kamal Hassan gives another stellar performance in this film with his exemplary acting. He looked tough and brought authenticity to his role. Kamalinee Mukherjee did a small role in the film and she is excellent. Jyothika is pretty good as the depressed woman. Prakash Raj is good. Salim Baig (Panda of Gharshana) did a vital role and he suited the character. Lev Gorn is very good as an NYPD cop.

Technical Departments:

Story - screenplay - direction: The basic storyline of this film resembles the story of Murder by Numbers (2002). The thread of two brilliant students committing serial killings and two cops chasing them is lifted from Murder by Numbers. Screenplay of the film is pretty good. The director has gone into the finer details of the film while making it. The direction of the film is stylish and there is brilliance in shot-making. He followed Mani Ratnam's pattern while writing the romance thread for Kamal and Jyothika.

Other departments: Music is nice and picturization is good. Cinematography by Ravi Varman is excellent. Editing by Anthony deserves a special mention. The way he uses diffusion and color transition in the first song is good. Dialogues by Dasarath (Santosham movie director) deserves a special mention. Stunts by Siva are neat. Production values are good.

Analysis: The first half of the film is very good. The second half drags a bit because there is not much of story remains once the identity of killers is revealed. Director handled the romance in the film in a matured way. There is no problem of Tamil nativity in this film because the subject is typical Hollywood cop thriller type. The major plus points of the film are director's taking and Kamal Hassan. On the flipside, the serial killing concept of the film might become too serious for a general entertainment seeker. On a whole, Raghavan is a decent film which you can watch at leisure. Box office wise, the film has potential to do well in A centers.

The tagline of the film is 'Deenikaina'. Ram and Genelia are the lead pair. Sreenu Vytla who gave two big hits with 'Dhee' and 'Dubai Seenu' is the director. Ram has just two films to his credit so far but he has already acquired the image of a good and stylish actor.

Story :
Chandu (Ram) is from a big joint family of RS Brothers.he is fresh out of college and falls in love with a girl(none other than heroine) who is passing in a Vehicle. Pooja(Genelia) is the only daughter of NRI Chalasani Prasad (Naga babu). She returns to India after the sudden death of her parents in an accident. Her Uncles( Kota Srinivasarao, Jayaprakash Reddy) are factionists and has a rivalry to each other .They had eye on Pooja's Rs.100Crore property and want her to marry their only sons.Chandu's friend Google Gopi (Ravi Varma) is in deep love with a girl who is about to marry and Chandu want to unite the lovers.Instead of Gopi's lover ,Chandu kidnaps Pooja.Chandu takes her to his home and gradually she falls in love with him.Her uncle Pedhinaidu(Kota Srinivasarao) finds her and takes her back to Bellary. How Chandu gets his dream girl forms rest of the story..

Highlights:

What any one expects from a Srinu Vytla's film?Good Comedy!right? Ready has loads of it .Srinu Vytla this times comes with a fully loaded Family entertainer in the lines of Ninne Pelladatha & DDLJ. He has a good script and great lineup of actors(Ram, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Dharmavarapu, MS Narayana, Jayaprakash Reddy, Kota..and the list goes on) and the result is ..as you expected. Though there isn't much story the screenplay(Gopi Mohan,Kona Venkat) is very good,So are the dialogues(Kona Venkat). Ram performed with ease,Genelia looks pretty.Brahmanandam steals the show as McDowell Murthy. Technicalities ( Camera - Prasad Murella,Editing - MR Varma)are adequate.
